This privacy notice tells you what Buturi Makongoro Project (hereafter called “Buturi Project” does with your personal information when you make a donation to Buturi Project or are in communication with Buturi Project for any other reason. Buturi Project is committed to protecting your personal information when you are in contact with us. Whenever you provide such information we will only use your information in line with all applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your information will be kept in a secure environment and access to it will be restricted according to the ‘need to know’ principle within Buturi Project personnel.
What information will we collect about you?
When you donate to Buturi Project or are in communication with us for any other reason, we are liable to accrue some or all of the following information about you:
- Date of birth
- Email address
- Phone number
- company logo
Buturi Project computers will automatically record data such as unique online identifiers including IP addresses, which are numbers that uniquely identify a specific computer or other network device on the internet. This is a normal result of communication via the internet. Buturi Project will not make use of that information, as we do not use “cookies”.
How will Buturi Project use the information it collects about me?
Buturi Project will use your personal data for a number of purposes including the following:
- To process and acknowledge your donations.
- To keep you up to date with our activities.
- To respond to feedback, queries and comments that you send us.
- To contact you about different ways in which you may be interested in helping Buturi
The lawful justification for collecting and using your personal data for processing and acknowledging your donations, keeping you up-to-date with our activities, responding to feedback, queries and comments that you send us, and contacting you about other ways in which you may be interested in helping Buturi Project is that you have given clear consent for your personal data to be used for this specific purpose. You are always in control of your data. You can opt in or out of keeping in contact with us by giving us notification by e-mail.
An additional lawful justification for collecting and using your personal data is that Buturi Project, as a UK registered charity, has a legitimate interest in processing your information to help us to relieve extreme poverty in Rorya District, Tanzania. You have the right to object to this collection and use which you can exercise by contacting email@example.com. Please note that if you object, this may affect our ability to communicate with you.
We will keep your information within Buturi Project except where a.) disclosure is required by law, for example to government bodies and law enforcement agencies or b.)If you are one of our partners, we may pass your data to another of our partners if we feel you have sufficient in common with that partner to work effectively in partnership. In the event of that happening, we will always explicitly seek your written permission first. As we are responsible for your personal data, we always ensure that your information remains protected and secure when being transferred.
How long will Buturi Project keep my information?
Buturi Project will keep your information indefinitely, until Buturi Project is wound up, or else where you tell us that you no longer wish to receive communication about Buturi Project’s status.
What rights do I have over my personal data?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data by making a subject access request
- Rectification, erasure or restriction of your information where this is justified
- Object to the processing of your information where this is justified
